Reverend Ruth Scott of Radio 2 died at the age of 60, this has been confirmed.
The presenter and the woman of the fabric were fighting cancer in her last months.
In a moving tribute, Radio 2 confirmed the tragic news on Twitter.
"Reverend Ruth Scott was very much loved by the Radio 2 family," they wrote.
"Working together with Sir Terry Wogan and Chris Evans, his reflections have been appreciated by millions of listeners at the Breakfast Show over the years, and our thoughts are with Ruth's family in this difficult time."
Ruth is believed to have died Wednesday.
The mother of two had participated in the breakfast show of Chris Evans Virgin Radio earlier this month, where she had fondly told that she was "not afraid of dying" .
In the first of a two part interview, Ruth said that she was getting rid of all the medical equipment in the hope of a natural death surrounded by her family.
"I have to accept the fact that I'm dying, I'm not scared, I've had a fantastic life.
"I just wish it was longer," she added.
Ruth had teary listeners while she was being interviewed by her longtime friend, Evans, from her hospital bed.
After being diagnosed with lymphoma two years ago, Ruth said, "It's weird at one level, but very natural at another level.
"I want to die as naturally as possible."
During the heartrending interview, Ruth revealed that she was hoping to receive a stem cell transplant, but that a doctor had told her this month that the procedure would not be possible.
Evans described her as a "mother, missionary, nurse and midwife" and said, "She was a hand to hold for thousands of people in life".
Tributes have already flocked listeners, with one writing: "@BBCRadio2 sorry really sorry to hear about the death of Ruth Scott. It was a soundtrack of my morning and was buying peace and wisdom.Rest in peace Ruth x."
And another said, "Ruth Scott, my friend for almost 40 years, died yesterday. The words can not express the love that she radiated and her generosity of spirit." Last show on his impending death is a small example of what an inspiring person she was … to listen to and share. "
