Former President John Dramani Mahama
Former President John Mahama said the Akufo-Addo government was living in a foolish paradise with the badumption that Ghanaians would be satisfied with their performance so far.
According to him, his interaction with Ghanaians during his tour of the country for the presidential primaries contest showed him that Ghanaians are disappointed with the NPP government.
"Let them continue to live in crazy paradise and say they have kept their promises. Take a tour of the population and see if the Ghanaians are satisfied with what they did. They continue to say that they are digging dams, but what they do is basically a canoe. That's how they are called in the villages.
"Go see people and find out if they believe these promises were kept. People are disappointed. The electorate does not see how this could benefit them, "he told Radio Gold during an interview Friday.
Mr. Mahama is challenging five other people, including former NDC flag bearers. The elections to be held tomorrow, February 23, will be held in 275 constituencies across the country.
Commenting on why he is still in the running after serving as president, Mr. Mahama said he thought he still had something to offer the nation.
"The greatest service that can be provided is the service to God and to the country. I do not see why I should avoid this challenge and put my talent and experience at the service of my country and my people. I have something to offer. Ghanaians have seen what I can offer. The change of 2016 did not bring any positive results. The plans we presented were very clear and, if they had been followed, they would have allowed us to progress more quickly. Today, Ghanaians are the judges.
