Anglogold Ashanti supports small industries with the first trade show in Obuasi

More than one hundred exhibitors are currently participating in the very first customer show and lounge to promote products made in Ghana.

The trade show and trade show should allow small and medium-sized businesses to interact, present their products and foster partnerships.

The district bademblies of Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East are collaborating with the National Council of Small Industries (NBSSI) to organize this event, which is the first of its kind in these regions.

Kelvin Ofori Atta, NBSSI's city manager, said the show was trying to get MSME players to grow an endangered economy.

He added that in providing business development and referral services to their customers, it was necessary to promote their activities and present them to the world.

"In order to strengthen the working relationship between the actors of the micro and small enterprises sector, it is necessary to group them under one roof, because the finished product of someone could be the raw material of the latter", he declared.

Ms Kosi Yankey, Executive Director of NBSSI, said the organization is committed to training and badisting small and medium-sized Micro-enterprises access to financing their businesses.

She revealed that Obuasi had been selected from little districts to house a resource center for businesses.

Once completed, the facility will train individual and private business owners to strengthen Obuasi's economy.

Elijah Adansi-Bonah, General Manager of Obuasi, explained that the exhibition was part of the initiatives to realize the president's vision. It is therefore necessary to help small and medium-sized enterprises to protect their products made in Ghana.

Mr. Adansi-Bonah revealed that the Obuasi Municipal Assembly is in talks with AngloGold Ashanti to help young Obuasi who wish to venture into agriculture.

The exhibition and salon of NBSSI customers is sponsored by the multinational Gold Mining, AngloGold Ashanti.

Nana Ampofo Bekoe, senior sustainability manager at AngloGold Ashanti, said the mining giant wanted to redefine its relationship with the communities in which it operates.

Supporting such a business means being part of a catalyst for development and creating a dynamic business environment to boost their economies.

"In the future, he said that AGA would introduce a business development program that would build the capacity of small and medium businesses each year."

He emphasized the importance of the reopening of AngloGold Ashanti to the Obuasi economy in terms of income generation for bademblies, direct and indirect employment.

More than a hundred exhibitors comprised of hairdressers, fashion designers, agri-food distributors, pearl manufacturers, honey makers, photographers, and more. have presented their products in the expectation of patronage.

The show ends on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
