Barack Obama makes a splash on Twitter with the custom presidential "44" jacket

A custom-made blazer recently worn by Barack Obama has provoked a frenzy on Twitter, thanks to a subtle nod to his former role as president of the United States in design.

On Wednesday, February 20, Obama attended a basketball game organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Assocation between Duke Universities and North Carolina in the United States.

The Obama outfit quickly became a subject of interest, mainly because of the black bomber jacket that he wore with a black sweater, dark gray jeans and Allbirds sneakers.

The jacket, which sells for £ 390 at the Rag and Bone fashion brand, was personalized with a "44" embroidered on the left sleeve.

Many people on Twitter have not managed their enthusiasm when they spotted the reference to Obama's status as the 44th president of the United States.

"The Obama jacket has just joined the 2020 race", a person tweeted.

"President Obama watched the match between Duke and UNC in his black bomber jacket with 44 sewn on the sleeve," "another added.

"We will never have another president with so much sauce."

The jacket was made for Obama towards the end of his second term as President of the United States, said Marcus Wainwright, founder of Rag and Bone GQ.

"I did not expect him to wear it in public," Wainwright said.

"I thought he was wearing it maybe on weekends or at home, I hoped he was wearing it."

The British fashion designer added that it was "awesome" to have created a custom jacket for the former president.

"How can you say it differently, when they go well, it's even more gratifying," he said.

This is not the first time that a jacket worn by Obama is receiving much attention.

In 2014, Obama wore a beige-colored suit at a press conference, a sartorial choice that critics of the politician called "non-presidential".

While he was holding his last press conference at the White House, Obama admitted that he regretted not wearing the controversial beige color garment again.

"Let me start by saying that I've been extremely tempted to wear a tanning suit today for my last press conference, but Michelle, whose fashion sense is a little better than the mine, told me that it is not appropriate in January, "he said.
