New research links your diet to your mental health

Many of us think about our bodies when we make decisions about food. What should I eat to feed my workouts? How will this meal fit into my fitness goals? However, new research has focused on a different aspect of your health regarding your diet, which can be really debilitating.

A study published in the International Journal of Food Science and Nutrition found that a diet filled with junk food is badociated with poor overall mental health, such as chronic depression, anxiety or other forms of psychological distress, which proves that our mood really depends on food.

The researchers collected more than 240,000 telephone surveys over 10 years from the participants, allowing them to obtain a clear picture of each person's lifestyle and health habits, even beyond their eating habits. They have been able to control all kinds of other factors such as income, age and bad to isolate the diet as a link to mental problems. Although this research is correlational and non-causal, it opens the door to future research on the subject.

And this is not the first time that poor diet is causing some serious problems. A diet rich in refined sugar could also lead to a life of mental struggle. Junk food is generally full of pesticides, chemicals and addictive additives that can make inflammation or weaken the organs and bones worse.
