A traffic ban announced for the Vietnamese capital suggests that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may soon arrive by land for his summit next week with US President Donald Trump.
The state-run Vietnamese media said on Friday that the national road linking China to Hanoi, the capital, would be closed to all traffic, from 6 am to 2 pm Tuesday.
The summit is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, but it's unclear how Kim will arrive.
In the Chinese city of Dandong, near North Korea, some hotels have stopped accepting reservations from Saturday on Saturday for rooms facing the Tumen River, which serves as a border between the two countries.
This has generated speculation that Kim could travel to Vietnam by train. But a train trip from Pyongyang to Hanoi in China takes about three days.
Much attention is paid to Kim's timing and mode of arrival, including badumptions that Kim could travel by train and plane.
