The Lagos State High Court has issued an arrest warrant against Jay-Jay Okocha, former star of the Super Eagles, for tax evasion.
Okocha, who played for Eintracht Frankfurt, PSV and Bolton, reportedly failed to appear in court several times to explain why he had avoided paying taxes.
As Game Yetu sees in the Nigerian media, Judge Adedayo Akintoye issued the arrest warrant against the former Premier League star on 29 January, before adjourning to 19 February.
However, as of 19 February, the prosecution had still not made the arrest effective, forcing the judge to adjourn on 15 April, ordering Okocha's arrest on that date.
Okocha now faces three charges laid by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice for failing to pay his income to the Lagos State Tax Administration.
Aged 45, he was part of the Nigerian team that won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 1994.
