HANOI (Reuters) – North Korean Foreign Minister Kim Jong Un will make an official visit to Vietnam in the "coming days," his Foreign Ministry said Saturday as he prepares for his summit with US President Donald Trump in the capital, Hanoi.

Kim is visiting at the invitation of Nguyen Phu Trong, chairman and secretary general of the ruling Communist Party, said the ministry in a statement, without giving further details.

The Hanoi summit of February 27-28 follows the historic June meeting of the two leaders in Singapore.

The North Korean media have not yet confirmed their trip to Vietnam or its summit with Trump.

Vietnam will ban traffic on the road that Kim is expected to take to Hanoi from a station on the Chinese border, media reports said.

But he is also preparing a plan to receive Kim by air, Reuters told a source informed directly of the issue.
