Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri has called Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola "lucky" to still be at the helm of the club.
Sarri is the last coach of the Premier League to undergo a thorough review. He is the favorite of bookmakers to be sacked.
The Blues will face Guardiola's Cityzens on Sunday in the EFL Cup final and the Italian coach fired on the Spaniard, saying he was lucky to retain his current position.
Guardiola was not an instant hit at City, and as Sarri also struggled to get regularity in his first season at the head, he claims he should have time at Stamford Bridge.
When asked why his job was under threat when Guardiola was not, as Mirror Sport reports, Sarri said:
Because he (Guardiola) was lucky. I do not know. You must ask the club. You must ask both Manchester City and Chelsea.
But I do not know if I'm under the pressure of my club or you. I do not know for the moment.
I think if you choose Guardiola, you have to wait because the club knows very well that Guardiola needs time. It's not very easy for an English team to play that kind of football, so that's normal.
In the end, we are at a point of the top four, the same points as Arsenal and (people say) Arsenal is fine, so we are going a little better because we are in the final, and yet our season is a disaster.
I do not understand … I want you to remember that this season, this team had won 70 points, not 100. Then, in summer, we changed everything. So there is another problem to solve. So it is not easy.
