Prior to Saturday's national and presidential elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State on Thursday distributed sensitive documents directly from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to the 20 local government areas of the state.
Mr. Femi Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the INEC office in Lagos, told the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) that the material, including ballots and result sheets, was being distributed to the 20 CBN premises where they had been kept. government zones.
"We started the movement of sensitive materials to all different areas of local government in the state directly from the CBN under high security coverage.
"Political party representatives are present at the CBN to monitor distribution. The distribution starts today and will end today because all materials are already in batch for a quick move.
"The INEC offices in each local government have been instructed to provide vehicles and security to the CBN to transport the material, for later distribution to the registration centers (RAC) on Friday." said Akinbiyi.

He said the exercise was overseen by members of the Inter-Agency Advisory Committee on Electoral Security (ICCES).
According to him, the exercise is faster because each local government has made separate arrangements for the movement.
Akinbiyi said: "INEC State of Lagos is fully prepared for the elections, we want eligible voters to go out and vote on Saturday.
On the reconfiguration of card readers, the INEC PRO said the exercise was concluded to reflect the new election day.
He added that the card readers had been transferred to their respective administrations to get paid in advance of Saturday's poll.
According to reports in the press, documents intended for the state were found in Kwara. Akinbiyi said the confusion was resolved.
He stated that these sensitive materials had been returned to the CBN of the State concerned for later transmission to the CBN of the affected State.
Akinbiyi said that those in Lagos were brought back to the CBN office in Lagos State and were among the materials.
