Lagos – Urns were set on fire at Voting Section 18 located at the junction of the Ohafia / Ago Palace Way, Okota, in the Oshodi / Isolo LGA area of the State of Lagos.
A correspondent who witnessed the incident reported that polling station 23 located in Baba-Ewe Street / Ago Place Way had also been hit by the fire.
INEC ad hoc staff at the polling stations as well as the voters who came to vote fled the polling stations for security reasons.
A team of the Special Anti-Theft Brigade (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command is on scene to apprehend suspects.
At the time of writing this report, INEC ad-hoc staff and electors have not yet returned to their units.
In addition, at voting units 035 and 036 located at Adeneken Street / Alhaji Olusesi Junction Street and Adeneken / Olusesi Street respectively, Ago Palace Way, a group of young men in tricycle and motorcycle disrupted the exercise by attempting to force voters to vote for a particular candidate.
A SARS team intervened, firing in the air. The team stopped some of the suspects.
State Police Commissioner, Mr. Zubairu Muazu, confirmed the crisis in Okota, saying that he had ordered the area commander to keep abad of the situation. (NOPE)
