Kevin Feige of Marvel confirms that the film Black Widow will not be rated R

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios confirmed that the independent film Black Widow would have a PG-13 rating, despite earlier rumors that it could be rated R.

Feige was asked if the rumor that Black Widow was rated R could be officially canceled, to which he replied, "Yes, that's fine."

The details of the untitled movie Black Widow have remained secret. Scarlett Johansson confirmed that she was resuming her role while the Russian spy became the SHIELD agent. No involvement of other Avengers characters is currently unknown, but it was reported that Cait Shortland would direct the film, with a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer.

Discussions about a Black Widow solo movie have been going on since Johansson started playing coherent roles in Marvel films, including Iron Man 2, The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Feige spoke of the lack of female lead roles in the movies in 2014, stating that he hoped to have a more equal representation of women on the screen, "sooner than later".

Earlier in 2014, Johansson had told IGN about his frequent conversations with Marvel about a Black Widow movie.
