Ningo Prampram MP Sam George accused the regional and district president of the National Democratic Congress of attempting to manipulate the electoral register.

Mr. Sam George told Daniel Dadzie of Joy News that Mr. Ade Coker and Victor Opey wanted to add to the register names of leaders of four branches that do not have the right to vote in the party elections and deciding who leads them in 2020.

"The constituency has 93 branches, but four of them have been problematic. That is, there are two different groups of Branch Managers. The party in its wisdom at the regional and regional elections decided to suspend these constituencies until the problem is solved, "he said.

He explained that the riding president had said he had spoken to the regional president, Ade Coker, who had in turn spoken to the national president, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and that they were in agreement that three of the four sections are allowed to vote,

"How can we come to an election where the register given to the electoral commission by the national executives is changed at the level of the constituency? How can we get to the point where someone brings the three branches to add? He asked.

The member asked why, "if there are problems in 4 branches, why do we have three branches coming out of nowhere"?

He added that even if peace prevailed after a while, the voting process was interrupted for two and a half hours.

"Do not change the register during elections," he said.

The Adom News correspondent also reported a fight in a polling station in Ningo Prampram.

He refuted claims that the injured delegate was his man.

According to the MP, the altercations that caused the injury did not come from him: "The injured person is a delegate from one of our branches in the Afienya Zango branch, so how is this man from Sam George?"

Mr. George stated that the police officer who escorted him to the room can prove his innocence. "There was no physical violence when I spoke to the riding president, we were alone.

The president of the riding, Victor Opey, said, about the MP's allegations of manipulation against him, that "it's a total lie".

"The branch of the Ningo Prampram constituency prepared a list of delegates from 92 branches, which it sent to the regional leaders who then pbaded it on to the national leaders according to the number of branches received by the national party.

Mr. Opey explained that the national executive had provided the list with 92 branches to presidential candidates.

"When we arrived this morning, the district election official only released 89 people," he said.

According to him, the voting agents of the various candidates came to indicate that there was a discrepancy between the register that had been given to them and the one that the EC possessed.

"I also checked mine and understood that there was a problem. I spoke to the regional president and he spoke with the national president to solve the problem, "he added.

Sam George, however, told Daniel Dadzie that the national president was not well informed about the issue in his riding, which contributed to the confusion.

Regional President Ade Cooker refused to talk to Joy News about the allegations.
