NDC decides: Nurideen Iddrisu congratulates Mahama

Nurideen Iddrisu said that it was time for the NDC to unite.

One of the presidential candidates for the National Democratic Congress, which has just completed, congratulated former President John Mahama for his victory.

Alhaji Nurideen Iddrisu, graciously conceded his defeat to Mr. Mahama and then called to congratulate him personally.

The former president received 213,410 votes, or 95.24% of the votes cast.

Six other candidates, including Alban Bagbin, 2,312, Professor Joshua Alabi, 3,398, Sylvester Mensah, 928, Goozie Tanoh, 2,036 and Dr. Ekwow SpioGarbrah, 1,457.

Nurideen Iddrisu, who garnered 519 votes, says it's time for the NDC to unite.

"We went to a competition, a healthy internal competition and the delegates took the floor. They voted in favor of former President John Mahama and I respect their decision.

"I wish you congratulate Mr. Mahama for his victory and I dare to say that it is a victory for the NDC. I would also like to congratulate all my colleagues who fought to lead the party but failed.

"It's time to build bridges. It is time to unite for a vigorous campaign in 2020 that will set up the next NDC government in 2021 and I beg our candidate to lead the unity crusade.

"I am grateful for my supporters. Thank you for believing in me and in my empowerment message and I promise you, as long as I am a member of this great party, I will spare no effort to help in any way to advance a empowerment program, "he said in a report.
