Julius Debrah at the polling station
Former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah voted this morning in the Suhum constituency.
The National Democratic Congress (NEC) is voting today in all regions to choose a leader for the 2020 presidential election.
As the vote progresses smoothly in most parts of the country for the election of the flag bearer by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), there seems to be problems in the Ningo Prampram constituency in the region of Greater Accra.
Isabella Gidiglo, a journalist at Adom News, announced that the vote had not yet started at the designated polling station nearly two hours after the start of the poll across the country.
According to her, the situation has aroused the agitation of anxious delegates who are starting to be impatient.
Some of the delegates said that they did not find their names on the electoral register and that in some cases the names on the register were lower than the number on the electoral register.
Context
Seven pillars are ready for confrontation in order to receive the endorsement of delegates at the election to be held at the constituency level across the country.
It is about Mr. Goosie Tanoh, businessman, former President John Dramani Mahama, Professor Joshua Alabi, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies and of Mr. Alban Sumanu Bagbin, Second Vice-President of Parliament.
The other members are Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, former Minister of Education and Trade, Mr Sylvester Mensah, former Director General of the National Health Insurance Authority and Alhaji Nurudeen Iddrisu, business man.
This is the fourth time the CDN has set the stage for the selection of a competitive flag bearer. Party candidates for the years 1992, 1994, 2000 and 2016 were selected by popular acclaim.
After successfully completing the selection process, all candidates intensified their campaign across the country to convince delegates to give them the chance to lead them, with the aim of overthrowing the ruling party, the New Patriotic Party, when elections of 2020.
The primary was postponed to Saturday, January 26, 2019, following an injunction filed by two of its members regarding the rules of conduct, but the case was settled amicably.
