An Irish woman severed her finger after suffering for years of chronic pain.
Meghan Cullen, 25, cut her right forefinger on Feb. 15 because she no longer endured pain, Yahoo! The news.
She suffered from a syndrome called complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), which usually develops in the limbs, hands, or feet after surgery or injury.

Cullen's pain began after his finger was stuck in the door of a car eight years ago.
"I decided to have enough. I'm tired of the pain, "she told radio host Neil Prendeville on Feb. 20 during an episode of her show RedFM.
Cullen tried several pain medications, pain blocking injections and surgery, but his pain only worsened.
She first tried to cut her finger in 2015. She then asked her doctors to perform a surgical amputation, but they refused.
"Friday, I had enough," she said during the show.
"I do not exactly say how I did it," she told Prendeville. "I do not want people to do what I've done."

Cullen then stated that his level of pain had instantly decreased. "Since I'm brilliant," she said. "It's a new pain, but it's a manageable pain."
Home amputations are not recommended because they can lead to a number of serious medical complications such as blood loss or infections.
