The government has announced that the 62North Dakota The anniversary celebration of independence will take place from February 28 to March 8.
Vice Minister of Information, Pius Enam-Hadzide, said the special guest of honor at the event was Niger's President, Mahamadou Issoufou.
Speaking to reporters in Accra on Sunday, 2019, he said the theme of this year's celebration was "Celebrating Peace and Unity."
"The theme consolidates the successes achieved in achieving the peace and unity of the peoples of the North and also recalls that Ghana will continue to be the symbol of hope while remaining peaceful", did he declare.
He added that Ghana would continue to protect "its enviable track record of being one of the most peaceful countries in Africa".
President Akufo-Addo during his speech on the state of the nation to Parliament last Thursday announced that the 62North Dakota The celebrations of national independence will be held in the regional capital of north Tamale at Aliu Mahama Stadium on March 6.
The celebration will take place a few months after the president settled the long-standing dispute between the chieftaincy in Dagbon. The conflict has had a debilitating effect on the progress of the region for nearly two decades.
Photo: Giving details of the ceremony, the deputy minister said the anniversary parade would be composed of 30 contingents, including security services, fire services, customs, immigration and Ghana Education Service (GES).
The Tamale celebrations will therefore be historic, especially because it will be the first time that national celebrations will be held outside the Greater Accra region.
"However, the government is optimistic that moving the celebration to Tamale will do a lot of good for northerners. This will not only boost the local economy, but also serve as an opportunity for the region to showcase its rich and diverse cultural heritage while seeking new development projects. It will promote local content and tourism, "added the Deputy Minister.
At the same time, the National Celebration Planning Committee unveiled the anniversary logo for this year's celebration.
The logo which is the figure 62 with the symbol "Adinkra" as "Bi nkabi", namely "one does not bite the other", resonates with the theme of peace and life in harmony.
