After the death of her father, Sun Ying had to undergo painfully 30 chemotherapy sessions and 20 radiotherapy sessions from 2015 to 2018. While she was still attending school regularly, none of her peers knew that she had cancer.
However, over time, Sun Ying's cancer worsened and she could no longer hide the fact that she was sick. Once, she even had to ask for extended leave from her school as she recurred three times and was bedridden for five months with a high fever. The little girl, who was once small, also took 18 kilograms and lost all her hair in three years.
In the midst of all his struggles, Sun Ying has always lived his life fully and has often pursued his hobby of drawing. She began documenting her fight against cancer and included her father's sacrifice in several colorful newspapers that she published online.
While these comics began to become viral, many netizens were touched by her heartbreaking story and wanted to give money to the poor girl. SCMP reported that more than RM 120,000 had been collected for Sun Ying's cause, which was used for both his medical expenses and his university fees.
"After seeing all the efforts made to help me, I do not want to give up. Even if I die, I can not leave my mother behind, "she said.
Sun Ying, now 21, is currently studying at Henan Normal University and is still undergoing treatment to fight her illness. She says she hopes her story and comics will inspire other patients who are experiencing the same thing and who remain strong during their treatment.
