Manchester United has not yet offered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a permanent contract.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still in the dark about his future at Manchester United.

The Old Trafford hierarchy is ready to appoint Solskjaer for an indefinite period after having seen a remarkable turnaround at the club since taking office as interim leader in December.

But the 46-year-old Norwegian and his number 2, Mike Phelan, have not yet received confirmation of United's decision as they plan to prepare for next season.

The same applies to Mike Phelan, deputy director of the acting head of Solskjaer (left).

It is understood that Phelan will return to Australia during the international break from his role as Athletic Director for Central Coast Mariners next week.

Meanwhile, Molde's Solskjaer contract was torn when he returned to Old Trafford for a contract with a short team until the end of the season, and he is still waiting for United to extend it. The club should also pay Molde £ 500,000 compensation as part of the loan agreement.

Solskjaer has repeatedly answered questions about his future saying that he would continue to focus on his work until United makes a decision, which seems to be the case despite the demands of players and supporters of his choice.

He has been involved in the long-term planning for the club's summer tour – which begins in Perth, Australia in July, and is also scheduled to take place in Singapore and China – as well as in discussions about possible transfers.

But any new potential rookie will want to know who will be in charge next season, as will United players in talks on new deals such as David de Gea and Marcus Rashford.

Solskjaer aims to guide United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday. Ander Herrera hopes to return after a thigh injury, although Romelu Lukaku is under treatment for a blow received this week.

United will also discover his opponents in the quarter-finals – and potentially semifinals – of the Champions League on Friday, when they will be in the pot with Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham.

UEFA announced on Thursday that the United States would be forced to change matches and face them if they were eliminated at home the same night or consecutive nights in City in both rounds.

Police and security officials do not want to hold two major matches in Manchester in the same week, and United must change the game under the rules of the competition as they finished under the City brand in the Premier League last season.
