The Association of University Teachers of Ghana (UTAG) has called the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Rev. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni to resign.
This follows the recent controversies that have upset the peace of the university, following the dismissal of some speakers.
Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah, National President of UTAG, explained that Reverend Prof Afful Broni should resign on the grounds that he had had poor performance as Vice Chancellor and that he was unable to maintain the university together for unity and progress.
He further requested that all dismissed lecturers be reinstated unconditionally.
In an interview with Citi FM, based in Accra on Wednesday, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah also called on the board of governors of the university to act as a responsible council because they seem not to do what is right to enforce the constitution.
He added that lecturers on the EU campus must rise without fear for their democratic rights.
"At the moment, about 30 people have been fired, demoted, suspended or arbitrarily transferred.
