Tottenham "considers five transfers in summer" in the redesign of his team

Tottenham is considering five new hires this summer while he's looking to narrow the gap between Manchester City and Liverpool.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will target a left-back, a central defender and an attacker among the new recruits.

Tottenham will also need a creative midfielder while Real Madrid's target Christian Eriksen looks set to depart – while Toby Alderweireld could complete the starter list.

The Spurs continue to follow in the footsteps of Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) after failing last summer in the midfield, while Carlos Soler of Valencia is another option in the middle of the field, according to the Daily Mail.

Hull winger Jarrod Bowen has been subject to sustained scrutiny and may be a more likely option than long-term target Wilfried Zaha. The ace of the Crystal Palace would be below the Tottenham prices.

Jack Grealish is a target for Tottenham

Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic is on the radar while Tottenham needs to add more support to star striker Harry Kane. But the Serb might not want to sign if he can not have the guarantee of a regular football.

Eriksen will enter the last 12 months of his contract this summer and Tottenham would prefer to take advantage of Bernabeu's 27-year-old interest rather than losing him for nothing next year.

Alderweireld has a £ 26 million release clause and could be the time for the 30-year-old to make the last big blow of his career, with Manchester United among the clubs suspected of being interested.

Christian Eriksen could be on the road to Real Madrid

Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen are among the other players who could leave.

Pochettino is expected to remain in Tottenham after being tipped earlier in the season to become Manchester United's next manager.

The success of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as acting director of United seems to have shattered the ambitions that Pochettino could have had from a move to Old Trafford.

So he seems to be staying – but he wants the support of the board of directors in the form of money transfer if he wants to keep Tottenham at the top of national and European football.

Tottenham, currently third in the Premier League by a point behind Arsenal, fourth, will discover his opponents in the quarterfinals of the Champions League Friday in the draw, from noon.
