MILAN – European car sales fell for the sixth month in a row, driven by modest gains in three key markets.
The Association of European Automobile Manufacturers said Friday that total new car registrations totaled 1.114 million in February, down 1% from 1.125 million a year earlier.
The Brussels-based badociation said car sales had declined slightly in Germany, France and Britain. They decreased by almost 9% in Spain and 2.4% in Italy.
Sales at Porsche fell by 44% and Audi by 7%.
Volkswagen Group sales were down 0.7%, although the VW mbad market brand rose 3.5%.
French automakers PSA Peugeot and Renault both resisted the trend by increasing the group's sales, while the Italian-American automaker FCA Group recorded a 5% drop.
