On Friday, the Lou Reed Archives of the New York Public Library of Performing Arts are officially inaugurated. The New York Times reports. One-career personal archives include thousands of audio and video recordings, scripts, photographs, and more. To celebrate its opening to the public, the NYPL has released 6,000 limited-edition library cards featuring a 1972 photo of Reed taken by Mick Rock.
The NYPL and Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed's widow and pioneering pioneer, announced the creation of these archives in 2017. Last year, a book on Reed's iconic interviews was published.
