Sonny Bill Williams sent a heartfelt message to the victims of the shooting in Christchurch New Zealand.
At least 49 people were killed and 20 wounded during Friday prayers at two mosques in New Zealand during the country's worst shootings, described by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as terrorism.
The All Blacks star Williams, a fervent Muslim, was shocked and saddened by the tragedy that claimed the lives of many.
Sharing a touching video on Twitter, he said, "I just heard the news and I can not describe it with words like I'm feeling right now. I have just sent my duas to families.
"Just send my duas and inshallah to all those who have been killed today in Christchurch, to your families.
"Just my dua to your loved ones. Inshallah, you are all in paradise and I am deeply sad that this is happening in New Zealand. "
The visiting Bangladesh cricket team was arriving for prayer in one of the mosques when the shooting started, but all members were safe, a coach confirmed.
They are in Christchurch to play New Zealand, but the third and final test of the tour, scheduled to start on Saturday, has been canceled.
"They were in the bus, which had just climbed to the mosque when the shooting started," said Mario Villavarayen, coach of the strength of the team and fitness.
"They are shaken but good."
