The Bangladesh cricket team narrowly escaped deadly shootings in a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday. Attacks on two mosques in Christchurch left at least 49 dead and several others wounded. Chandrasekaran added that at first they did not even realize it was a terrorist attack.
"It was a few meters from the mosque and we suddenly heard gunshots, neither the players nor I first understood what was going on. Saw this woman fainting on the road.We thought it was a medical emergency and some boys wanted to get off the bus and help the lady, "Chandrasekaran said.

It took some time before the police arrived and was escorted out of the back door of the team bus and taken to the ground.

Chandrasekaran, who previously worked with the IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad and joined the Bangladesh cricket team in 2018, thanked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as well as the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for their quick response.
"We're all waiting to go home, the players are going to Bangladesh and I'm also waiting for my return ticket to India," he said.
