David Beckham reports on Inter Miami as the new MLS franchise prepares to launch

David Beckham's Inter Miami will play his home games 30 miles north of the city of Florida for his first two seasons.

Beckham, legend of Real Madrid and Manchester United, is one of the owners of the team that aims to make his MLS debut in the 2020 season.

Inter Miami plans to build its own stadium near Miami Airport, the Miami Freedom Park, which will also house a training ground, and will be gearing up for the 2022 campaign.

But plans are far from certain with a huge cleanup of toxic waste to finance, with no funding at the moment.

As a result, Beckham revealed that the new franchise would start living at Fort Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium – which Inter plans to redevelop after being disorganized.

As the state's first MLS team, the Miami Fusion had the habit of playing on the field before being disbanded in 2002 after going bankrupt a year ago.

Previously, the stadium was used by the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the North American Football League in the 1960s, '70s and' 80s – and featured icons such as Johan Cruyff and Pele.
