Thousands of Malawians are staying in makeshift camps. They fled their homes and lost their property during severe floods, which also caused many deaths.
According to UN officials, at least 115 people were killed in Mozambique, Malawi and South Africa after heavy rains hit 843,000 people throughout southeastern Africa, calling for emergency help.
"I came here because we experienced sudden floods in our area. We first sought refuge on the heights, then officials from one organization brought us here, "said Pilirani Andulu, a Malawian flood survivor.

Floods in Mozambique, one of the poorest countries in Africa, have already destroyed 5,756 households, affecting 15,467 households and 141,325 people.
The Malawi Meteorological Department has warned of further rains and floods in the south between Thursday and Sunday.
More than 168,000 hectares of crops have been destroyed, the government spokeswoman said.
The authorities ordered the mandatory evacuation of people living in flood-prone areas.
