PARIS (Reuters) – French automaker Renault said on Friday that it had decided to reconsider its decision on the 2018 pay package for deposed boss Carlos Ghosn.

"The board will meet again in April to draw its conclusions," Renault said.

Earlier this week, the Japanese Nissan and Renault announced that they would redevelop the world's largest automaker alliance to place them on an equal footing, breaking the powerful presidency of Ghosn. .

Ghosn is the subject of a lawsuit in Japan for failing to disclose some $ 82 million (62 million pounds) of income that he had arranged to pay later. He also transferred losses related to personal investments to Nissan when he was managing director. He denies any wrongdoing.

Ghosn is credited for rescuing Nissan from bankruptcy in 1999.

Renault bought 43% of Nissan before the 1999 rescue. Nissan holds a 15% non-voting interest in Renault, while Renault's largest shareholder is the French government.
