Tottenham Hotspur is finally ready for a spree of summer spending – with five new signatures to deal with the loss of Christian Eriksen, among others.
The club has recently experienced two no-transfer periods, but this period of frugality will end this summer, with long-term goal Jack Grealish topping a list of five key targets for the Lilywhites.
According to the Daily Mail, alongside Grealish, the Spurs are watching Fulham striker Aleksandr Mitrovic, Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen, Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler and striker Crystal Palace Wilfried Zaha.
Naturally, the club is more confident about some of these names than others, and it is feared that Zaha has not played himself. Similarly, it is unclear whether Mitrovic would agree to replace Harry Kane – a warning that has recently embarrbaded the Spurs with their purchases of strike forces.
Speaking of which, Vincent Janssen is one of those names that should leave to offset these new incomes, possibly alongside Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderweireld, who will be available for just 26 million pounds as a result of the one-year extension triggered by the club. last year that activated its release clause.
Eriksen remains the main title, with Real Madrid closely monitoring the 27-year-old Danish international. The current Danish contract will expire next summer and the Spurs are naturally keen to cash it now rather than letting it go for free in June 2020.
All this summer activity is part of a ploy to keep Mauricio Pochettino happy in North London, although the current administrative roadblocks at Manchester United and Madrid let it be hoped that it will remain beyond the season.
