Alex Afenyo Markin, deputy of Effutu
Effutu MP Alex Afenyo Markin denies the badertion of being the mastermind behind the tumult that is happening at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
According to the member, all his interventions in the business on this campus have been to make sure that the right thing is done in his riding at all times.
It all began when Professor Mawutor Avoke took office as Vice Chancellor of the University in October 2015, replacing Professor Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw, whose term ended in September of the same year.
People within and outside the university objected to his appointment, even though he had served two terms as Vice Chancellor.
The federal deputy of the region, Alexander Afenyo Markin, would have been behind this opposition to the appointment of Professor Avoke. He explained that the new CV had been involved in school governance issues as early as 2013.
Shortly after, Supi Kofi Kwayera, suspected of being an interlocutor with the MP, filed a complaint, alleging that financial irregularities and irregularities in the procurement of the Avoke had led the management of the company. school.
In 2017, the University Board of Directors asked Professor Avoke and four other senior officials to step down after it appeared that essential documents kept in some offices at the center of investigation in progress had been withdrawn at night.
Mr. Kwayera, whose lawyer was Mr. Afenyo Markin, obtained a high court judgment that found that Professor Avoke and the school's finance officer, Mr. Theopholus Senyo Ackorlie, were guilty of contracting and other financial irregularities.
The Supreme Court then overturned this decision of the Winneba High Court later that year.
Professor Avoke, who had applied for reinstatement after the Supreme Court decision, was replaced by current Vice Chancellor Professor Anthony Afful Broni.
The dust seemed to have subsided until the deputy broke away from the current vice-chancellor, after the VC had initiated reforms in the school, including the dismissal of some speakers.
What broke the back of the camel was the subsequent dismissal of three influential speakers for a variety of reasons, including not cooperating with management and not taking legal action against the school.
Alex Afenyo Markin, who has been designated by many as the architect of the confusion in the school, has denied this allegation.
"The question of being an alley and arguing with him is neither here nor there. He is my friend and my priest. Only last week we had a good discussion dinner. It is not a personality, but a problem for STE. [must be addressed]," he said.
He said that he did not care that people criticize him, adding that he was determined to stay true to the truth.
"Yesterday it was wrong, today it is wrong," he told Joy News.
