Emile Short presenting the report of the Ayawaso commission to Akufo-Addo

The Commission of Judge Emile Short who investigated the violence that tainted January 31 2019 The by-election of the constituency of Ayawaso-West-Wuogon presented its report to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

the report was presented to President Akufo-Addo on Thursday March 14 at the Jubilee House.

President Akufo-Addo created the commission under section 278 of the 1992 Constitution, to investigate the events and badociated violence that occurred during the by-election.

Upon receiving the report, President Akufo-Addo said that the conclusions and recommendations would receive the necessary attention.

The Chairman thanked the members of the Committee for their willingness to discharge this "difficult task" and thanked them for having completed it on time.

"The Government will study the contents, conclusions and recommendations of the report and, in accordance with Article 280 of the Constitution, will ensure that relevant decisions taken on the report are made available to the general public."

President Akufo-Addo said government has the responsibility to ensure the maintenance of law and order in our country.

He felt that the findings and recommendations will help the government wean the nation of elections Related violence in the country.

The commission's mission was to expose the circumstances surrounding Ayawaso West Wuogon through electoral violence.

Among other things, the Commission needed to identify those responsible for the violence and recommend sanctions where appropriate.

In presenting the report to President Akufo-Addo, Judge Emile Short stated that the commission had fulfilled its mandate ", the depth of our report will convince you, Excellency, that all the necessary grounds have been covered will find the conclusions and the useful recommendation to shape the future ".

He also thanked President Akufo-Addo for his initiative and commitment to eliminate the scourge of electoral violence emanating from Ghana's political bodies.
