Surviving members of the Beastie Boys announced three live events led by Spike Jonze.
Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz and Michael 'Mike D' Diamond will return to the United States in April for the announced Beastie Boys by Mike Diamond and Adam Horowitz.
The group did not give more details about the event, although it is supposed to be related to the autobiography recently published by the duo. Beastie Boys Book.
The show will be presented on April 5 at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia. Two other stagings are planned for the Kings Theater in Brooklyn on April 8th and 9th. No show has been scheduled for the UK for the moment.
Jonze had previously directed the group's iconic video for "Sabotage". The boys also collaborated with Jonze on an unpublished feature film titled We can do it based on the last member of the group, Adam Yauch, his alter ego, Nathanial Hornblower.
The surviving members recently toured based on their book which stopped in London last October. It has been described by NME at the time "a strange evening of entertainment including fake debates, silly outfits and a failed joke about Phil Collins, but in spite of all its strangeness, it's an evening that stealthily pbades the viewer to another. There was laughter, there was dancing, and there were tears – on stage and off stage. "
The Beastie Boys have also recently announced the loss of Yauch.
Addressing the task of writing about the death of his teammate, Diamond said, "It's really difficult. It's an extremely sad thing. We had never imagined living this incredible loss of our friend and partner dying, and dying as he did. It's always sad.
He added, "What can you write beyond that? What can you write about this period? It's this strange transition. It's that person, but he's not the person she was … All you can say is that you're missing that person.
