It is possible that a new Android tablet arrives on the market from an unlikely source.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Walmart, the leading US retailer, is preparing to launch a new tablet device under its brand ONN. Although Walmart has embarked on the hardware market in the past, particularly with the release of its very disappointing overpowered gaming notebook brand last year, the tablet space offers a definite advantage to the retail giant.
The company is apparently targeting its new device at the lowest price of the tablet spectrum, which would make Amazon's Fire HD tablets its main competitors. These tablets cost as little as $ 49.99 for Amazon Fire 7, and their price is regularly reduced.
Like Amazon tablets, the new Walmart device will run on Android. However, Amazon has its own version of Android tablets on Fire, making some applications unavailable and the user experience somewhat embarrbading for those who prefer pure Android. If Walmart has a better version of Android (unlikely) or uses Android (also unlikely), it could steal some of the consumer base of Fire tablets.
According to the Bloomberg report, the tablet should be aimed at children. We would badume that this means that we would do everything in our power to make the new tablets difficult to destroy, while still offering many parental control features. So far, the FCC has approved at least one of Walmart's new tablets, which means the device could be launched in the near future. Do not expect this to dislodge the iPad.
This will probably be more of a bargain for consumers looking to please their child without breaking their bank accounts. We do not know yet of price or planned launch date, but we check for more information.
