Highlights from last week's Impact Wrestling show …
Josh Mathews and Don Callis were commented. When Callihan circled the ring, Don Callis decided to throw Callihan a lick. Callihan answered by throwing his scarf at Callis …
1. Rich Swann, Willie Mack and Tommy Dreamer vs. "OVE" Sami Callihan, Jake Crist and Dave Crist. The craziness then begins to start the game. Rich and Sami started the match, but after Swann hit him with scissors, Sami and the Crists withdrew to the ring to develop a strategy. Dreamer and Callihan then started the game properly. Callihan attacked Dreamer with a few knees, then scored in Jake. The dreamer hit Jake with a crowbar and tagged Swann for follow-up. The faces exchanged quick tags to work on Jake and cut the ring in half.
Dreamer comically went on a "high risk" ax strike (bottom rope) joking that he could not climb the turnbuckle. Dave Crist entered and had an account on Dreamer. Heels exchanged tags to isolate Dreamer this time. The dreamer countered the pile driver while Callihan did his thumb trick. Mack received a label and cleaned the house. Callihan went to get a crossbody but got caught. Mack made his signature Samoan Drop, kip up and moonsault. Swann hits Callihan with Rolling Thunder. The dreamer hit Callihan with an elbow that was walking slowly and struggled (deliberately) to make a boot. Mack and Swann helped Dreamer execute the Kip Up.
Mack hit OVE with a corkscrew plancha. Swann hit a Phoenix Splash on OVE. Dreamer teased a suicide dive, but then gently walked across the ropes and hit OVE with weak shots. Good product. The dreamer then took a little risk by striking OVE with an ugly (but charming) cannonball. This wisely encouraged a song "You always have it!" Callihan hit Swann with a boot to get into the advertisement. [c]
Jake Crist locked Swann in a modified Saturn's rings. Dave scored to put the boots on Swann. Dave worked in a heel hook on Swann. Rich spits deliberately on Sami's face during Dave's submission. OVE exchanged quick tags to launch his isolation game on Rich. Swann arrived at Dreamer who managed to reach the OVE trio with Dusty blows and bionic elbows. Sami spits in Dreamer's face. The dreamer grabbed the spit and ate it (this nostalgia hit me with his quarrel with Taker). The dreamer hit Sami with a cutter for two counts.
Sami countered Dreamer's DDT with a bite in his hand. Mack hit Callihan. Everyone eventually gets hit with signature shots, the sequence ending with Dreamer hitting Dave with a DDT. Sami broke the next bowling attempt. Dreamer managed to thwart the OVE trio and lock them in a corner to sign the implosive Canon bullet, Mack's signature, which Callis nicknamed "The Loot Bomb". Swann and Mack throw stereo splatters of frogs on Crist Brothers. The dreamer hit Sami with an ugly frog splash (but charming again). The babyface celebration collapsed when the heels isolated a man. Callihan grabbed a little crotch of Tommy Dreamer who was preparing for his final Pile Driver for the pinall.
OVE defeated Mack, Swann and Dreamer in 2:25 pm on TV.
Thoughts of John: A match of trios surprisingly good. Not surprisingly, Rich Swann is anchoring yet another quality opening match. The presence of Dreamer did not make sense to start (he is more related to Eli Drake and Eddie Edwards in separate programs that do not report quite), but I could not stop myself from really buy a lot of his intentional 'old man' moves here. It was cute. I like to win at OVE because it's gleeful, but would it hurt Impact to give Jake or Dave a win every now and then because they're already established?

Taya Valkyrie and Johnny Impact were in a waiting room. Johnny was preparing his things while wearing a neck brace. Brian Cage came in and asked Johnny if Johnny was ready to defend the title tonight. Johnny got up and said that Cage should be the one to be prepared. Cage said "agree" and went away …

Thoughts of John: I know Lucha Underground would have jumped on it, but does Impact know that they have a Johnny Cage pun on their hands?
A chart "Tale of the tape" appeared on the screen. A fun highlight is the "fighting style" section. Johnny's style is "hybrid", while Cage's is "Get my s – t in". What's not funny is that Johnny is supposed to be from Slamtown (I refuse to badociate Los Angeles with what Slam Town is supposed to be.)
The time had come for the mandatory Rascalz hotbox segment That 70's Show. Moose joined on the smoke circle and thought that they were hilarious. Moose was wearing a black shirt and slightly dazzling this time. Moose wondered where the smoke came from and where the chicks were. Moose then asked Rascalz where was Melissa Santos? Dezmond Xavier is laughed at Melissa's rejection of Moose last week. Dez called Moose "Strawberry Pocky Stick" (ok … it was funny). Moose laughed until he remembered that they were making fun of him. Moose then beat the Rascalz in a comic style with comic sound effects and laughter tracks. The segment is finished with Moose saying that the Rascalz are funny …
Disco Inferno, Glenn Gilbertti, made his debut. Disco wore rainbow polka-dots and made his signature dance in the ring. Disco recounted how he came back and after Scarlett made some treats last week, she's gone. Disco said that the Impact is a clown show and that they should send a clown to be beaten up. Kikutaro (Lucha Undergound's pizza delivery man) was the opponent of Disco's development. Kikutaro released what sounded like 80s anime music. Disco went to the comment and asked Don Callis if Kikutaro is the new Pro Wrestling World Champion in Japan?
2. "The Disco Inferno" Glenn Gilbertti against Kikutaro. Kiku and Disco started the match with the fight at the chain. Kiku dominated with his comic struggle and his disco dances. Kiku then did some Japanese comedy spots on Disco. Disco then dominated Kikutaro with simple and effective strokes. Callis explained how well Disco looked to be 50 years old. Irish Whipped Disco Kikutaro in the corners until he fainted. Disco then locked a tie on Kikutaro. Kiku escaped but Disco followed with a helmet on Kikutaro. Disco missed the elbow "Village People" (malignant). Kikutaro hit Disco with a dragon screw. Kikutaro hit a naughty Shining Shining (or Yakuza Kick?) That Callis reported looked naughty. Kikutaro was crushed and burned on a moon. Disco hit a Stunner on Kikutaro for the fallen.
Disco Inferno defeated Kikutaro in 4:25.
Thoughts of John: While the match may have lasted two minutes too much (because of Kikutaro's attack that seems a bit uninteresting … Some were funny in some moves though), I like this parallel story that Impact relates with Disco while they are in Disco's Vegas home. The disco was not as popular as it had been in the last few weeks via Cinematic, but I will not complain about the fact that the Impact allows a focus match to set up and delay the Scarlett show Bordeaux.
Rolando Menendez was back and he interviewed Taya Valkyrie who was pacing backstage. Rolando asked Taya what she thought of Jordynne Grace or Tessa Blanchard. Taya said she was distracted because Johnny may need a neck fusion. Taya removed Rolando and drove away … [c]
3. Fallah Bahh and KM vs. "Reno Scum" Adam Thornstowe and Luster the Legend. The match started with a fight on the ramp. KM took control of Thornstowe in the ring. Chandelier removed KM and worked a bit on KM. Bahh was knocked out after being thrown into the steel steps. This allowed Reno Scum to tag himself and create a disability situation for KM. Josh Mathews announced the Impact's next impact television show, where they are working with Border City Wrestling in Canada. In the same episode where Tommy Dreamer was eating spit, Adam Thornstowe was playing with his underarm sweat.
It took about three minutes, but Bahh went to the corner and grabbed the shortcut. Bahh dominated Thornstowe with chops. Bahh then hit Luster with a crossbody. Bahh tried to lead a Bahh song, but the crowd fought Fallah by singing "Oi Oi Oi" (a bit odd, because Bahh is generally applauded everywhere and the Scum guys are from Reno, not vegas ). Thornstowe tried to take high risks, but Bahh caught him and hit him with a Samoan drop. Chandelier crushes and burns in the ring. Thornstowe tried to hit his opponents with Superman Punches but missed Bahh. Bahh hit Thornstowe with a stomach to stomach for the decisive victory.
Fallah Bahh and KM defeated Reno Scum in 4:10.
Bahh sold his knee injury after the match. Josh recounted how Reno Scum returned to the Impact with two losses …
Thoughts of John: I guess Reno Scum does not stay? I am still a little surprised to see that this was complete cannon fodder. These are supposed to be a powerful team, but have come out as the WWE Ascension here. On a positive note, squash gave Bahh and KM some credibility.
The Lucha brothers were shown behind the scenes. Fenix was wearing a pink shirt and was very happy to be in Las Vegas. Konnan approached them and asked them to respond to his request for revenge. The Pentagon responded with a pie against Konnan with his hand gesture Cero Miedo. Konnan said that it was loco. Konnan asked Fenix for an answer, but Fenix left with the Pentagon. Konnan said that the Pentagon would pay for what he had just done and that Fenix would pay via an badociation …

Thoughts of John: Again, with Konnan's help in creating, I really hope that Lucha Underground will be back in the Pentagon's hole because Penta's hole is the best Penta.
The show was reduced to LAX's weekly skit. Ortiz told Santana that he was closing his eyes, immersed in his thoughts. Konnan told Santana and Ortiz that it was what the Pentagon had done to him a few minutes ago. Konnan said that he wanted a street fight because "my sons" did not respect him. Santana took it as Konnan managed to get revenge. Konnan said he has not done it yet, but he will. Ortiz was so excited that he said the Lucha brothers were going to have "that" (a crazy bad). Thoughts of John: Oh thank God Almighty !!! Jordynne Grace was released from hell known as Undead Realm Division.
4. Tessa Blanchard vs Jordynne Grace will become the No. 1 contenders in the Knockouts championship. Josh called it a battle between the plants. Callis reiterated her comparison of Grace to Rhyno and referred to her relationship with Rhyno. Grace dominated the opening sequence and hit Tessa with a lbado in the basement. Grace hit Tessa with a delayed vertical suplex. Tessa turned the tables with the right hand after beating Grace with the right hand after the referee separated. Grace grabbed Tessa with her right foot for a recovery time, but Tessa did not give in.
Tessa noticed Grace's eyes on the top rope. Tessa tripped Grace on the second rope. Grace fought but Tessa fought through Grace's defense to end up as a code breaker. Tessa chatted a bit with the referee, which allowed Grace to hit Tessa with a spinebuster en route to the ad. [c]
Grace's body sent Tessa back several times back from break. Tessa came back with strong style forearms. Grace hit Tessa with a Michinoku driver for two counts. Grace staggered Tessa and went to get a Kinniku Buster, but Tessa escaped and planted Grace with a DDT. Tessa shouted, "Fuck you Jordynne !!!" Tessa then continued shouting at the referee and gloating around the ring. Josh said that Tessa seemed paranoid. Grace hit Tessa with a military press. After exchanging quick points, Grace hit Tessa with a comfortable Michinoku driver for the win.
Jordynne Grace def. Tessa Blanchard in 6:50 on TV It was time to do nothing. 1 candidate for the Knockouts championship.
Don Callis and Josh Mathews overcame this as a surprise, considering Tessa's experience in Impact …
Thoughts of John: Welcome to the Jordynne Women's Division! Once again, happy that she is not lost in meaningless matches in the Undead Kingdom Division. Since Grace is in all circumstances the Brian Cage woman, it made me think. The babyface victory here means that Taya Valkyrie is turning the corner soon as she prepares to make a potential Johnny Impact turn for weeks. I would be everything for that.
After Jordynne went to the back, the referee went to check on Tessa. Tessa pushed the referee and the referee decided to walk to the back and not to take care of it. Tessa threw a fit in the ring. Tessa shouted after Josh Mathews making him tremble with fear. Tessa shouted at random people until she decided to throw the ringing fighter into the ring. Callis shouted that this guy is a civilian and just "110 pounds soaked". Tessa gave the groom a false sense of security but then began to club him with his right hand and knock him out.
Gail Kim ran for the backup. Tessa tried to hit Gail, but Gail had the advantage. After hitting Tessa with a jumping elbow, Gail beat Tessa until Tessa was forced to retreat. Josh Mathews spoke about how Gail made the favor for being attacked in Nashville during the ex-TNA Asylum. The theme music of Gail Kim was played to close the segment …
Thoughts of John: A very good segment. Tessa is one of the Impact's best strategists. She does all things big and small as it should be (am I a bad person to root when she beats poor little civilians?). Tessa has made the most of all the segments in which she has been involved in recent months, including many squash matches against local wrestlers (since you can not have Tessa against Taya every week.) Although Gail Kim has been exposed At the end of the race After running full-time, she is arguably the company's best storyteller in the ring without losing a leg, which has the potential to be an Impact Top 10 match and impact could really benefit from the fact that Gail Kim fights once or twice a year.
A trailer-style video was aired to highlight the United We Stand show (this reminded me of one of those specials produced by Dave Sahadi from the old TNA) … [c]

The ring doctor was watching Tessa. Scott D'Amore came in to ask the doctor if Tessa was okay. Tessa shouted at Scott to be rude because he could have asked Tessa who was right in front of him (good point). Tessa said she was the biggest star in the company and Scott ran her badly. Tessa said it was bullshit and something needed to be done. D'Amore said that everything would be settled. Gail Kim approached to shout a little more about Tessa, but D'Amore obstructed and sided with Tessa in this conflict. Thoughts of John: A small part of me here really wanted to see Gail and Tessa put on the same page during a segment to thank D'Amore for being an influential person. I laugh.
Josh Mathews announced next week in Canada where he will work with Border City Wrestling. Josh also announced the promotion of United We Stand, again (I think he has plugged this supposedly un-canon show every 5 to 10 minutes, even in the middle of the matches). Josh also promoted future television appearances in April and May in Toronto and Philidelphia …
It was time for the game of the week for the global wrestling network (quoted by Melissa Santos and voted by Twitch viewers). It was Sting against Rob Van Dam of the TNA Slammiversary 2010. It's funny that they mentioned the TNA specifically because it had the most 'TNA finish' of all time. Earl Hebner was entitled to a "REF BUMP !!!" and Jeff Jarrett ran to beat Sting and help win RVD. Thoughts of John: Hmmmm … does not Rosemary know that Allie's "soul avatar" is wearing a wedding dress in the realm of the undead right now? This lame bad story has more plot holes than Swiss cheese. It's not the cinematographic approach that pisses me off. You will know that I love and comment on Lucha Underground for this site with a lot of praise. One good thing, among all the actors, is that Rosemary is best suited for the cinematographic approach (and I really liked the cinematic work that Billy Corgan and Dave Lagana did with Rosemary, Steve and Abyss in 2016). Without Lagana and Corgan around, I do not trust this creative team to do justice to this pretentious scenario (maybe Konnan can help you?). Just finish this loan. Look how happy Jordynne Grace is after a week out of the hell of the undead.
Impact cut to a cinematic OVE camcorder broadcast (wow! Another cinematic!). Sami told the Cristaux brothers to sit on the floor with him while he delivered his speech. Sami tried again to give his opinion as to why Rich Swann should go to Ohio. Sami shouted that Rich had thrown everything away. Sami said he would take everything away from Swann, which he has been coveting since Swann's title for Division X next week. Sami said that he won the title in Ohio because OVE is for Ohio, by Ohio, and that he will take care of everything … All !!! ALL!!!
Thoughts of John: The Impact has just won a check for Sony 6, because it's been months since we have more cinematic in Impact Wrestling. While the black hole and the bad act of Undead Realm fears, I am a supporter of cinemas well arranged in a realistic context. A film approach can enhance things like the OVE camcorder, LAX clubhouse cinematics and Glenn Gilbertti's fun sketches.
Speaking of India, Gama Singh was in the ring doing his promo for the boring bad of the Desi Hit Squad. I wonder who they are losing this week?
5. Eddie Edwards and Eli Drake vs. "Desi Strike Squad", Rohit Raju and Raj Singh. Eddie and Raj started the game. Commentators have pointed to the size differential between Eddie and Raj. Eddie won the opening sequence and was found at Drake. Raj won the next exchange and tagged Rohit Raju. Don Callis explained how Rohit Raju integrated Western culture into Indian culture and that Gama did not pay attention to it as long as they won (but these guys never win). The Desi Hit Squad worked on Eddie for a while.
Thoughts of John: By the way, Raj, who has a good appearance and good skills, looks very deflated fighting for these hopeless and very predictable matches.
Raj hit Eddie with paydirt. The heels cut the ring in half. Rohit made a joke by mocking Drake's slogan while telling Drake to suck him off. Rohit looked awesome on Eddie and hit Eddie with a cannonball. Drake almost had a sauce train on Rohit but Raj helped him escape. Drake cleaned the house. Gama tried to distract Drake and the referee, but that turned against him because Drake gave Eddie "kenny" the Kendo stick with which he hit Rohit for the win.
Eddie Edwards and Eli Drake defeated the Desi Hit Squad in five minutes and twenty minutes.
Josh explained how Drake and Edwards are potential contenders for the Beacon …
Thoughts of John: The same story here. Raj looks good. Rohit looks really nice, but it's for nothing, because DHS are just cannon fodder. Part of me can get behind a tag team Eddie and Eli. I like that there is a chance that Drake turns face to face because he has a huge need to restart. Eddie Edwards is the man who still needs a restart. Even Drake points out to the metta how "Crazy Eddie" failed because the crowds react to him with confusion and not with excitement. At least Drake can command a crowd, so that's it.
Josh Mathews and Don Callis commented. Josh announced that the main event next week was Rich Swann against Sami Callihan for the X Division Championship. Josh then hooked up United We Stand (again) … [c]
Back from the break, they aired another match of the week on the Global Wrestling Fighting Network (this is perhaps an exclusive Twitch?). It was Abyss vs. Sabu in a barbed wire match of the 2005 Turning Point. Sabu defeated Abyss by making Abyss a sandwich to the Abyss via two barbed wire tables. They broadcast about three minutes …
Thoughts of John: I think they released this at the last minute because Melissa Santos had to bail out a bit to take care of her business. So Callis had to spend a lot of time tonight talking to herself during commercial breaks. Callis walked next to a hockey rink and a random forest in Canada, so is this guy walking the streets of Canada watching Impact on his phone? Accessories for the dedication. Accessories to Melissa also who has been a great substitute for Josh Mathews during these Twitch segments.
At six minutes from the hour. The theme of Johnny Impact's entry was played. Josh badumed that it was games of mind because the champion is supposed to be the last one. The camera was cut off randomly from the audience of the crowd who were presumably told to act in a confused manner (they acted badly). Instead, Kevin Kross came out with Johnny Impact in the firefighter's carry position on his back. Kross carried the Johnny soft up to the ring that still carried his corset. Kross brought a concrete block and a steel chair to the ring. Callis said Kross must have skipped Johnny. The "guardians of the independent scene" missed and Kross was surprised. Kross smothered a child with the Kross jacket, which invoked the "Kross" songs of the crowd in his hometown.
Kross spent his time teasing a chair against Johnny with the block and the chair. Taya Valkyrie dragged Cage into the ring to help Johnny but Cage decided to wait at the top of the ramp. Taya decided to go herself and be Johnny's human shield. Kross told Taya to go and he called Taya a bitch. The subtle facial expression of Cage revealed that he was in conflict. Taya gave Kross the weakest punch in the world (intentionally). Cage was saved when it seemed that Kross was about to arrive at Taya with a chair. Cage rid Kross of the ring with a chair at the back.
Taya hugged Cage to be a hero, but suddenly, Taya gave him a low blow (Yay! Lucha Underground Taya is back !!!). Johnny Impact made a kip to show that all this was a trick. Johnny gave Cage a moonlit walk and stomped on Cage. Johnny placed the facing block against Cage's head and gave him an armchair with the block. Cage sold it as if he had had nerve damage. Johnny was standing near Cage while Taya leaned on his shoulder. The camera showed Kross making a naughty villain laugh from the ring (Kross is awesome!). Evil Johnny and Evil Taya stood at the top of the ramp while Callis called them garbage to close the show …
Right after the signing, Melissa Santos (on Twitch) explained how disgusted she really was because she really cared about Brian Cage (she always takes a look at her relationship with him). Melissa then interviewed Alisha Edwards and I'm finishing my report here …
Thoughts of John: It was well done and better than I expected with the Assistant Taya tour. Given that Cage, Taya, Johnny and Kross are involved, it reminds me of a well made segment of Lucha Underground, given the quality of the writing and the fact that the four wrestlers are both Lucha Underground wrestlers. So I wonder if Konnan has his fingerprints on their creation because he wrote for them in LU, Crash and AAA. Do you remember all the holes in the plot that I mentioned about the undead kingdom? I like it to be the opposite with attention to detail. Taya's punch was intentionally bad. The theme of Johnny's entry was played because Johnny wanted to attract Cage with it. In addition, they have done remarkable work over the past few months, making Cage a very likeable and honorable hero who has not been clichéd with his anti-hero tendencies either.
As good as Johnny was stubbing in LU, LU mismanaged the end of his heel by asking him to be serious a week and be a comedy heel the following week. They hoped the Impact would not repeat that mistake and keep Johnny in the credible race (presumably to fill Austin Aries' gap in the list of players). While last week's show was pretty much in the middle of the road (with the exception of the amusing disco skits), this week has returned to form with a pretty solid show.
Average number of viewers: about 9,000 people (9,300).
