Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who played a key role in the dismissal of the former vice-chancellor (VC) of the STE, Professor Mawutor Avoke is in conflict with the current president following the dismissal of some lecturers.
Professor Anthony Afful-Broni, last Friday, dismissed three faculty members of the school, Professor Ephraim Avea Nsoh, former regional minister of the Upper East and principal of the College of Education. Ajumako languages, Dr. Frimpong Kakyire Duku, President of the Local. of the Association of University Teachers of Ghana (UTAG) and Dr. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, former president of alumni who represented alumni at the University Council.
The layoffs sparked a new protest from UTAG students and members.
Afenyo-Markin condemned the Reverend Afful-Broni for the "illegal" dismissal of the lecturers and warned him to keep in mind the events that led to the resignation of the former vice – Chancellor and be guided accordingly.
This development led to the closure of the school following a violent demonstration by students demanding the reinstatement of the dismissed lecturers and the dismissal of VC.
