Vetting of ministers: Parliament limits to 10 the number of guests of the ministerial candidates | Policy

Parliament has limited the number of guests who follow a ministerial candidate to control.

The number, which has been reduced to 10, was revealed by the speaker of parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Ocquaye.

Emmanuel Akorli, parliamentary correspondent, said Peace FM New Professor Mike Ocquaye, Speaker of Parliament, said the nominating committee would be cleaned up and made more efficient.

"The Parliamentary Services Council and leaders have noticed and heard some of the comments made about our validation process. This is not a joke, as some commentators sometimes want.

"[And] We thought we should revise some of our systems to make the verification process commercially efficient. It is not only a formality and Parliament is very attentive to this onerous constitutional duty in this respect ", said Professor Oquaye, announcing the changes.

"We are also aware that sometimes the incoming numbers do not help the process. This is the least we can say. And there have been sneers everywhere on television and other remarks, gestures and postures that are not the best in all the serious circumstances of the process of fulfilling our constitutional duty.

"Therefore, we have limited and we have announced in advance in this Honorable House that only 10 family members, friends or other persons of a candidate can visit the room."

Previously, candidates had the opportunity to appear before the committee with an unlimited number of guests in the conference room.
