Zara Holland destroyed Love Island after the tragic death of Mike Thalbaditis.

The former Miss Great Britain, who appeared in the show in 2016, says the stars have been "chewed and spit out" after their participation in the program.

Zara said "nothing" had changed since her co-star Sophie Gradon had committed suicide last year.

Now she is speaking out against the ITV2 dating show.

The 23-year-old said to the Sun: "The candidates are chewed and spit out, nothing has changed, there is no problem – and now something terrible has happened.

"You have to do more to help the candidates, yes, they have a psychiatrist behind the scenes, but there is no follow-up, you can not just be forgotten."

Zara says that there is still much to do

She went on to say that it's hard to get back to real life when the "bubble of fame breaks out".

Zara said that Internet trolls "target your weakest insecurity".

She added: "You have money that goes to the left, right and center. Many people want to be your friends, but they only want you to use.

"But then the new series comes out a year later and no one wants to pay you."

However, a source close to the show claimed that the bosses were doing everything in their power to protect the stars.

They said, "Caring for our people is a process that the show takes very seriously and is an ongoing process for all participants.

Mike was found dead on Saturday

He was 26 years old

"We make sure that all of our contributors are able to benefit from psychological support before, during and after their participation in the show. The program will always provide ongoing support when necessary and appropriate."

"We also had extensive discussions with all of our Islanders, before and after the show, about how their lives might change and they have access to support and advice to help them in this task."

After the news of his death last night, ITV said, "Everyone at ITV2 and Love Island is shocked and saddened by Mike's terrible news, and our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends."

Mike was found dead yesterday in a park near his childhood home in Edmonton, North London.

He appeared on Love Island in 2017

A police spokesman said: "Police were called to a park near Latymer Way, N9 at 9:28 am on Saturday, March 16, following reports of a man being hanged.

"Officers and the ambulance service from London went there and found a 20-year-old dead man.

"At this early stage, the death is not considered suspicious. The relatives of the men have been informed.A file will be prepared for the coroner.
