Commander offers water to displaced children
Some children allegedly displaced in Chereponi during the latest clashes between two ethnic groups were literally rescued this weekend by the district police commander who offered them water to quench their thirst.
Chief Superintendent Amankwatia was photographed giving bottled water to the group of children and their mothers who allegedly fled Chereponi because of the clash between the Konkombas and the Chorkoses.
The photographs, released Monday morning on social networks by the police department, drew the praise of a group of Ghanaians, while others described this act as a publicity stunt.
In recent weeks, the police department has been criticized for the unprofessional conduct of its staff.
"God bless him for bringing relief," said Kwadwo Agyei Brobbey on Facebook.
For Sammy Neat, although this is a very good move, he said it was not special, as most Ghanaians do just that to help others in need.
