One person was killed instantly when a truck was fired and crashed Monday morning morning against commuters on the Tema-Accra section of the highway.

The truck bearing registration number GT 1547-14 struck commuters who were waiting at the junction of the Kingsway International Christian Center (KICC) along the Tema motorway section in Accra at around 7.45am.

The deceased, identified as Ophelia, would be an employee of Royal Crown Packaging, a subsidiary of Kasapreko Corporation and a resident of Ashaiman.

According to some eyewitnesses, she was waiting on the shoulders of the highway in the company of many other people who were also waiting to cross on the other side when the Hyundai truck headed from Tema towards Accra reportedly had a brake failure and would have fallen on it. .

The accident injured three other commuters and was transported to Tema General Hospital.

The airport division police subsequently arrived at the scene to badess the situation.
