After surpbading the $ 750 million worldwide in less than two weeks and keeping first place in the US box office, it seems pretty obvious that Captain Marvel has a lot of fans. Now you can count Game of thrones the creator George R.R. Martin among them.

Martin recently took his time Winds of winter writes (hopefully) to watch the latest Marvel Studios movie, then posted on it on his blog:

The film is extremely entertaining. I can not wait to see how Marvel teams use the captain in the upcoming Avengers movie. Once she has fully seized her powers, she is by far the most powerful character of the MCU. She could eat Iron Man for lunch and have Thor for dessert, with one side of Dr. Strange. Thanos is in trouble now.

He also put on his geek hat and talked about a part of the film he did not like, though: that the film's Mar-Vell film was not identical to Mar-Vell's comics:

As an old (very very old) Marvel fan, I'm a little saddened to have dropped the Captain Marvel (not to mention Fawcett's Big Red Cheese), the Kree Mar-Vell warrior, for continuity. THE DEATH OF CAPTAIN MARVEL was one of Marvel's clbadics a long time ago. Maybe it's just me, though. I am a little purist in terms of adaptation.

It is unclear whether this last line is a clue that the HBO show based on his novels will not match his novels.

Captain Marvel is now in theaters. Game of thrones returns on April 14th. The next A Chant of ice and fire book, Winter Winds, will be published ¯ _ (ツ) _ / ¯.
