Former President Jerry John Rawlings paid tribute to the party's former president, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, describing him as a very strong and pbadionate man who lived his conviction.

The founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said that he had a lot of respect for Mr. Adjei because he defended his beliefs and was not materialistic.

Describing the late Adjei as a fighter during a visit to his family in his Agboba residence in the suburbs of Accra on Monday, former president Rawlings said the deceased was very sad and disappointed with a lot of things.

"Adjei was disappointed with our weaknesses as a party. He was disappointed with the politics of our party and the fact that he had been monetized and held hostage. He was hurt by the loss of the party's value systems, "said Lt Rawlings.

The former president urged the family to stay strong and united during this difficult time and expressed hope that his children would carry some of his fighting spirit.

Anthony Dzegede, former president and good friend of Dr. Adjei, who knew Dr. Adjei from Nigeria as a thinker and philosopher, it was natural for him to become a politician.

Mr. Dzegede described Adjei as a genius with bright, witty ideas and full of insinuations full of humor.

The late Dr. Adjei chaired the party from 2005 to 2014. He previously had a rich political history and served in various capacities under the PNDC and NDC governments.
