Cryptocurrency mining giant Bitmain has launched a new miner for the crypto-currency zcash, which, he says, has three times more hash power than its predecessor.
Bitmain has announced that the new ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), called Antminer Z11, is designed to extract cryptocurrency based on the Equihash algorithm, such as zcash.
The company adds that the new product offers a hash power of 135,000 sol / sec (solutions per second), "three times more powerful" than its former Equihash miner, the Antminer Z9, which was published last May. Soil / s is usually equivalent to h / s (hashes per second), which is the number of hash calculations created per second in cryptocurrency extraction.
Bitmain further claims that the Antminer Z11, which adopts a 12-nanometer chip, is more energy efficient because of the new internal circuit structure, which saves 60% of the electricity cost compared to that of Z9.
Bitmain launched Antminer Z9 for the first time at a time when the zcash community was discussing whether the network should be modified to become ASIC-resistant, which would mean it would prevent minors using ASICs, which are generally more powerful than average graphical processing units.
However, last June, at the Zcon0 conference, members of the zcash community decided not to give priority to research efforts to change the rules of the zcash network to make it ASIC-resistant.
Last month, Bitmain also launched A new 7-nanometer extraction processor, called BM1397, is designed for cryptocurrency proof-of-work algorithms based on the SHA256 algorithm, such as bitcoin and bitcoin cash.
