The concept of relationship is deeply rooted in the philosophy and cultural imperative of Africa, that is, "Ubuntu", which means "I am because we are." It expands the field of society and shapes the life patterns of human existence. It uproots the ideology of the "me" and replants a definite imperative of the societal element, namely the sense of belonging and the philosophy "we feel".
The reason for being this philosophy is to bring all humanity together under one roof by building on each other's strengths, exploiting each other's weaknesses and bridging the gaps that exist in life. of all, in order to create a perfect community.
Social work, as a professional entity, strongly believes in the power of human relations and its impact on personal, family, community, organizational, national and global development.
Overall, "social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that fosters change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people." The principles of social justice, human rights , collective responsibility and respect for diversity are essential Social work, based on the theories of social work, social sciences, humanities and indigenous knowledge, engages people and structures to face the challenges of life and to improve well-being ".
Ideally, social work is aimed at ensuring the well-being and improving the social functioning of all people, especially the vulnerable population, such as: women, children, the disabled , the family at risk, the displaced population, etc. The vehement and rich ethical orientation of social work makes it comparable to none. However, the importance of the human relationship is the fourth of the six core values of social work.
In 2010, a joint conference on social work and social development was organized by the three global social work organizations in Hong Kong. This historic event gave birth to four pillars for the global agenda of social work and social development. However, the global agenda is not just a declaration, but a process or a step-by-step approach to progressive development. The four pillars include: promoting social and economic equality; to promote the dignity and worth of peoples; promote the sustainability of the community and the environment; and strengthen recognition of the importance of human relationships. In an effort to value, promote and preserve the importance of human relationships, the profession has pooled resources with professional badociations and organizations to improve the delivery of quality services, competence and professionalism in practice. The International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) and the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) are the three global bodies representing social workers, practitioners social development and educators. IFSW has four commissions: the United Nations, the Commission on Human Rights, the Ethics Commission and the Interim Education Commission, as well as five regions (IFSW Africa, IFSW Asia and the Pacific, IFSW Latin America and the Caribbean, IFSW Europe and IFSW North America). .
In Ghana, the Ghana Association of Social Workers (GASOW) was established under FISW to advocate for the operational activities of social workers, educators and researchers in Ghana and to ensure effective collaborative efforts among its members to realize the vision of the profession.
The profession focuses on poverty reduction; challenge social injustices; and empowerment techniques. However, these dreams can never be realized if better relationships between clients, practitioners, families, communities, institutions and other professional organizations are not effectively established and maintained. This presupposes that the success of the profession depends on each member of society.
In this contemporary era, the progress of each social entity depends heavily on the strength of its social capital. That is, the ability to bring all of your human resources together under one roof and to reinforce that link in a resilient and consistent manner for the benefit of all.
In elections, communities with indestructible social capital are able to detect false candidates, identify trustworthy people and put in place the best mechanisms to protect their political rights and invest them. with caution.
In the same vein, families with excellent interpersonal skills and good communication habits are always striving to return to their normal state and climb higher on the resiliency curve each time. They are facing a crisis situation.
The most valuable capital that a company can have is an indestructible social capital. Therefore, each country's ability to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is based strictly on the strength and effectiveness of partnership and collaboration among its institutions, members and the external environment.
In the practice of social work, several theoretical approaches, intervention mechanisms and practice-based methodologies have been designed to guide the course and defend the activities of the profession. However, the most imperative aspect of the profession lies in establishing a lasting synergistic relationship between its members, clients and the outside world.
Social capital is the cornerstone and cornerstone of the profession, as is the illuminating image that emanates from all peoples of the world to feel the impact of the profession's initiatives on their lives. While building relationships with clients can be much easier, maintaining them requires maximum practice: wisdom, high level of expertise, cultural intelligence, and emotional intelligence.
Wisely, the profession must channel and defend more energy and resources to establish an indestructible partnership, collaboration and network among its members, all social institutions, individuals, clients, communities and other agencies.
