One person was killed on the spot when a truck fired and crashed against commuters on the Tema highway section in Accra on Monday morning.
The deceased, identified only as Ophelia, would be a resident of Ashaiman.
According to some eyewitnesses, she was waiting on the shoulders of the highway in the company of many other people who were also waiting to cross on the other side when the Hyundai truck headed from Tema towards Accra. would have had a brake failure and struck.
The accident injured three other commuters and was transported to Tema General Hospital.
