The true story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard is stranger than fiction, which is why she is a fascinating base for Hulu's upcoming show, "The Act," premiered on March 20th. She educated her at home because she said that Gypsy could not attend normal school. Nobody knew that Gypsy was actually a healthy child.

As a single mother raising an extremely sick child, Dee Dee has a lot of sympathy. The family regularly received donations and free trips from organizations like Make-A-Wish and Ronald McDonald House. The trailer for "The Act" alludes to this.
Habitat for Humanity provided a home for Dee Dee and Gypsy (with a wheelchair ramp and hot tub for Gypsy muscle pain) when they lost theirs during Hurricane Katrina. It was when the family moved from Louisiana to Springfield, Missouri, where she remained until the murder of Dee Dee.

Gypsy explained to Nick what her mother was doing and how she wanted to escape, and Nick was ready to murder Dee Dee for this to happen. In 2015, when Gypsy was 23, Nick stabbed Dee Dee in their home in Springfield. He and Gypsy then fled to Wisconsin, where Nick lived. Dee Dee was found dead a few days later after a series of strange Facebook posts that prompted the police to investigate. At first, it was thought that Gypsy had been kidnapped, but when the police found her with Nick, they were shocked to see that she wanted to be there and that she was in good health. .
Gypsy is currently in prison for the murder of Dee Dee.
Nick and Gypsy Arrested – Gypsy was sentenced to 10 years in prison at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, after pleading guilty to second degree murder, as shown in the video below.
Nick was convicted of first degree murder in November 2018 and sentenced to life without parole in February 2019. In 2023, while Gypsy is 32 years old, she will be eligible for parole.
