Just us two! The Duchess of Cambridge is elegant in gray when she goes out with the queen for their very first joint engagement at King's College London (and they even shared a blanket on the way!)

  • The Queen and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived for a joint commitment to Kings College London
  • Kate, 37, was elegant in a gray coat belted by Catherine Walker while the queen was looking for powder pink.
  • They made an official visit to Leicester together in 2012 but were joined by the Duke of Edinburgh
  • This is the first time that they make a complete outing without being accompanied by another family member

The Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge arrived for their first joint commitment.

Kate, 37, and the queen, 92, shared a blanket at the back of the car while they were parking at Kings College London, where they will reopen Bush House, Grade II, after a renovation.

The duchess was elegant in a gray waistcoat of the favorite Catherine Walker, while the queen preferred a pretty, powder-pink ensemble.

Although they attended dozens of events together, it is their first without any other members of the royal family.

In 2012, the couple traveled to Leicester as part of the Diamond Jubilee tour, but was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh. However, they attended individual engagements alone as part of the day, including watching a fashion show.

Bush House was formerly the headquarters of BBC World Service but is rented by Kings College London.

The Queen, patron of King's College and visited in 2002 and 2012, will visit the facilities with Kate and meet with supporters of the project.

They will see a robotics demonstration, including robotic surgery, and a demonstration of how sensors made from textiles can measure useful information about the body.

They will also visit a virtual trading room and meet students from the Institute of Entrepreneurship, who support thought, skills and entrepreneurial experiences among King's students, staff and alumni.

The queen should unveil a plaque to officially open Bush House.

Later, Kate will visit the Foundling Museum to understand how he uses art to make a positive contribution to society by engaging with vulnerable and marginalized youth.

The museum tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, the first children's charity and public art gallery of the United Kingdom.

Kate, who visited the museum in 2017, should see "Bedrooms of London", an exhibition of photographs documenting the living conditions of London's most disadvantaged children.
