Ghanaians have advised to avoid corruption as a civic responsibility

GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Tatale / Sanguli
The North Region District advised Ghanaians to avoid any form of
corruption as part of their civic responsibilities.

Mr. Iddrisu A. Latif, acting
The district of Tatale / Sangule, director of the Commission, gave the opinion during a
public education campaign on the second phase of the anti-corruption bill
Law and Accountability Program (ARAP II), a joint initiative against corruption
between Ghana and the European Union.

Mr. Latif, the interim
Director of NCCE in Tatale / Sanguli District, said that corruption,
embezzlement, illicit enrichment and conflict of interest are some of the acts
and corruption activities.

He also stressed
institutional weakness, poor ethical standards and weak law enforcement
and limited responsibility as a cause of corruption in the country.

He urged the citizens
frown on any act of corruption, as it weakened institutions, favored
quality services, non-compliance with the law and order, thereby resulting in poor
economic growth and development in the country.

Mr. Mutaru Sayibu, the
The chief agent of the NCCE stated that the application of the rule of law required
citizens to take measures to ensure compliance with the principle of
supremacy of law, equality before, separation of powers among others.

He repeated on the
need for citizens to defend and defend the 1992 Constitution in order to promote the
rule of law.

Mr. Joshua Najim, a
resource person in the education campaign, said one of the biggest challenges
of corruption in the country was the lack of commitment of citizens to report
corruption and therefore urged the public to constructively support
in the fight against corruption by informing the competent authorities of the
action.
