Reading FC star Andy Yiadom saved the day as three fans found themselves without a ticket for Saturday's 0-0 draw against Stoke City at bet365 stadium, writes James Earnshaw.

Dean Cooke, Frankie Guinane and Alex Drury headed to Derby, where they study football journalism at the university.

However, after a hectic week, all three had forgotten to buy tickets after the match was replaced by a match while tickets, none being available the same day.

Potter had been informed of the ticket error Friday night and had tried to help by sending a message to some Reading players on Instagram.

Yiadom, the heartfelt Ghanaian international, picked up three of his free tickets for family and friends behind the reception at the bet365 stadium.

The Royals ended in a 0-0 draw with Stoke and scored a point, Yiadom was cleared and three fans were thrilled by the generosity of Barnsley's signing this summer.

Guinane, 18, said, "It was a bit weird because we were on the train to Stoke and we still did not know if we had tickets or not.

"When we arrived, we went to the reception in the elegant part of the field to collect the tickets. I was shocked that he actually pbaded and he got us tickets and did not have to pay them.

"They cost £ 25 each, which was a lot of money. That made me think, "Will the Premier League players do that?" "

At the same time, Cooke, 20, blended Yiadom's generosity with the closer bond between players and fans under Jose Gomes.

"It's great that Yiadom did that," he said. "There have been years when there has been a mbadive disconnect between players and fans, but it's things like this that are starting to bring love back to Reading and the team.

"I heard that Yakou Miete had done it several times, and now Andy Yiadom. The players have clearly in mind the fans now and it's good to know as a supporter who travels the country every week to follow them. Let's hope we have more characters like him on the team. "
