It seems that Waymo is about to extend its autonomous taxi service

Waymo One – the autonomous taxi service of the company's autonomous car Google – was officially launched in December, but many people have not done so yet. It could change.

In an article published Tuesday on its blog, the company announced the creation of a new 85,000-square-foot technical services center in Mesa, Arizona, outside Phoenix. The taxi service – available via an app that orders Waymo-ified minivans Chrysler Pacifica – is only available for about 400 "first pbadengers" in the Phoenix area, but Waymo says it will be open at more people. It's just not clear when this will happen.

According to Waymo, the new space "will more than double our ability to service, maintain and expand our fleet of Waymo One cars". Waymo was the first to launch a full-fledged autonomous car service, but others are lagging behind. Previously, Uber had in mind a taxi service and offered beta rides via his app, but after a fatal crash last year, he limited testing to a limited number of vehicles in Pittsburgh.
