Head coach Joachim Low believes Manchester City striker Leroy Sane is ready to play for Germany.

Sane was surprisingly left out by the Die Mannschaft World Cup team by Low last summer, when he played a key role in City Premier League and the defending champions escaped in the group stage.

The 23-year-old was taken back into the fray for the UEFA Nations League before Christmas and Low thinks he's sufficiently improved this season to be considered the main player of his team.

Germany begins preparations for the Euro 2020 qualifying match with Holland against Serbia in a friendly on Wednesday.

Low told the official website of the German federation: "His development has been good both in the national team and for (for) Manchester City.

"He has performed great, but what is more important to me is that he has taken a big step forward.

"He really mastered his fieldwork. He has incredible skills and has brought them to the field in the last six months.

"Leroy still has huge potential and can become an extremely important player for the German national team."
